This truck might have cost ~$23K in 1988.

If that $23K were invested in an SP500 index fund at the time, it would be worth $1.2M today.

11MPG/7MPG if towing. My Uncle was a traveling pipefitter and had the ‘87. The two tanks were _just_ big enough to make it from Phoenix to Yuma after a miscalculation of where the next gas station would be.

Nope, I was surprised to learn a while back that both are correct.

When Chevy introduced them in 1973, they ran an ad campaign where they called it the "Big Dooley": https://www.vintagepaperads.com/assets/images/CQ0501.jpg

I've always called is a "dually", but the ad is older than I am, so...
